Basingstoke Parkrun # 239

Only a few Saturdays left this year, and nearly a month since my last parkrun. I’m enjoying that I don’t even have to think about whether I’m going until 8:35 a.m. and don’t worry if I’m not feeling 100%.

Result: 18:54 (7th/166 overall)
Date: Saturday 8 December 2012
Format: 5km run (2.5 laps of tarmac, grass, mud)
Event website: http://www.parkrun.org.uk/basingstoke/home
Full results: http://www.parkrun.org.uk/basingstoke/results/weeklyresults?runSeqNumber=239

We’ve all got blocked sinuses and crackly lungs. It’s that time of year. Decided to set off at same pace as last time and see what happened. First km was 3:31, the next was 3:54 and the third was 3:49, so I was running within a metre or two of the ‘virtual me’. 🙂 I tried to push on in the fourth km, but it wasn’t happening, and I slipped back to a 4:02 as Graham Hall came past me. I offered some encouragement/abuse. I didn’t try to pick it up, and the fifth km was a 3:38.

I know I’ve got a faster time in me, but perhaps it’s not going to happen this year.

(Right now, I’m shown as Unknown ATHLETE because I didn’t have my barcode. Ah well.)
