One week to go until the world champs! I’ve had a pretty good build-up in the last month capped by 3rd overall at Reading Sprint Triathlon. Just a couple more key training sessions, a massage and lots of stretching to fit in before I’ll be splashing into the Serpentine, Hyde Park and waiting for the gun at 10:00 Wednesday 11 September. There’s a guide for spectators and a course map for the aquathlon – and all the other races – online. We’re all hoping there’s a huge crowd to support the largest ever Great Britain Age-Group Team!
The Elite aquathlon is also contested on the Wednesday (Go, Richard Stannard!), the Brownlees have to wait until Sunday, when the World Championship crown will be decided, and there’s continuous racing every day in between. There’s a triathlon expo in Hyde Park and the triathlon festival in Trafalgar Square going on every day too.
Bring it on!
Good luck Gareth
I’m hoping to get up to London on Tuesday evening for the week to watch before I race on Sunday.
I’ll give you a shout if I can!!
Julian
Thanks, Julian! Zell am See sounded hard work, and you were hard on yourself as you posted great swim and bike splits; standard distance will be a walk in the park now I should think. Good luck to you too! 🙂
John Levison of Tri247 has posted a Aquathlon World Champs preview which nicely covers the AG and Elite racing.
