It’s been a good year. I started from a low point, but with help from family and friends, I’ve managed to follow the plan that I made at the beginning of 2012. Recently I have been thinking back over the last twelve months, trying to be honest with myself about what worked, and what didn’t: my tri ‘year in review’.

One of my big goals for 2012 was to manage some training every week, no matter what else was going on. To that end, a parkrun with my brother-in-law and a mate, ticks the box on the final Saturday of the year.

Result: 18:54 (7th/166 overall)

Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored my crazy challenge on behalf of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation. With a contribution from my employer, Sony Europe, and the Gift Aid that the charity can claim on most of our donations, we have raised well over £1000. I have posted photos and video of the challenge for your amusement! 🙂

Result: 9th/176 overall (36:08)

Thanks to the hospitality and support of the Witt family, I had a fantastic day on the River Thames. I’ll describe the experience in more detail shortly, but here’s a few photos that offer a glimpse of the day. Thank you so much everyone who has sponsored me – the total has already reached a fantastic £600.
Another Saturday, another parkrun. Not perfect but better than my first parkrun last week.
Result: 18:47 (4th/224 overall)
