Eastleigh Aquathlon Series 2012 Race 4

Entered Eastleigh Aquathlon series race 4 tonight just to ensure I managed one training session this week between camping and Paralympics. Arrived at 18:05 with Em and kids, having driven thru showers and into sun from Bstoke. Got my race number and swim hat, and then after getting numbered on my arm but before my shin… Thunder and lightning…
Result:
Race cancelled 🙁

Go Brownlees!

Aside

Went to the rowing at Eton Dorney last week and saw 3 GB crews win their semis, and another get a silver medal (the three semi-finalists went on to win gold-gold-silver the next day). All the travel/transport/security/venue arrangements were fantastic, a credit to the UK. Psyched about the men’s triathlon this morning, hoping for gold and silver.

Dehydrated

Status

This week so far have biked Sunday (and come home with a lot less skin on my elbow/hip/knee/ankle, but nothing broken…), biked yesterday and swum in the evening. 72 kg this morning – dehydrated methink!

Marlow Olympic Triathlon 2012

After feeling like I didn’t do myself justice at Eastleigh a couple of weeks ago, and nervous about stepping up from sprint to Olympic, I decided to treat the build-up/taper with more care before Marlow (intended to be 1500m swim/37km bike/10km run). I did two 1hr brick sessions the Friday and Monday and “pile of brick” race pace intervals on the Tuesday (5 x 5min turbo+1km treadmill) and then just a gentle ride with Jon on Thursday. Combined with eating and drinking well, I actually got to the weekend feeling pretty refreshed. Result!

Result: 21st/298 (happy!)
