I haven’t done parkrun since last year! The grass section at War Memorial Park has been horribly muddy and I haven’t felt like slogging through it. This week’s been drier and I psyched myself up for one last session for March.

There’s a good interview with Alistair Brownlee on the BBC Sport website, ahead of the Abu Dhabi triathlon this weekend. But it’s the fact that he defines the 100 km non-drafting bike leg as “two hours of steady-state riding” that makes me laugh!
February started with the first Eton Dorney Duathlon of 2013. It was an encouraging start to the year, but showed me that I still needed to do more work on the bike. So I’ve tried to knuckle down.

It’s only the 10th of January, but One Step Beyond have announced Nottingham Triathlon is now full, that’s 1100 competitors, 700+ men, mostly looking to qualify for the GB Age Group Team for the ITU Sprint Distance World Championships in London in September. I have picked it as my ‘A’ race for 2013, and we’ve just booked a family holiday in the area to coincide, an extra incentive to focus my mind with 21 weeks to go!
